Articulate Storyline 360 - Scenario-based eLearning Assessment
This is an Inventory Replenishment Training Assessment for warehouse workers who are being onboarded in their new roles. After completing their initial training, employees would complete this assessment to check knowledge transfer and retention.
I met with a subject matter expert who works as a manager in the supply chain field to identify some key processes that warehouse employees need to be well-versed on to perform their jobs. After identifying inventory replenishment as one of them, we collaborated in completing an action map in MindMeister centering around the 6 key steps in this process.
After completing the action map, I decided a story-focused, scenario-based eLearning experience would be ideal for this process as it encompasses what a day looks like at work for forklift operators. This naturally meant that Storyline was a great authoring tool to use. Before beginning in Storyline, I created a storyboard using Google Docs to plot out the story slide by slide, including programming notes for the triggers and conditions in Storyline, font details, and variable information.
Having created the storyboard, I needed to design the slide layouts. I wanted to use Adobe XD, but as it’s now in “maintenance mode,” which means it isn’t available to download anymore, I chose to use Microsoft PowerPoint for the design of each type of slide (see below).
After creating the project in Storyline, I needed to get feedback as I had decided to use the ADDIE approach. Unfortunately, my SME was too busy, but I was able to conduct some User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with a few colleagues. Thankfully they gave some insightful feedback, which I incorporated into the final product. I took care to apply Mayer’s Multimedia Principles of Learning where feasible for a more coherent experience.
The end result, as you see here, is a self-paced, scenario-based eLearning Assessment tool for warehouse workers, specifically forklift operators.
